Profile

Director

Dr. Cindy founded her own private practice in 2008 after practicing at the Hospital Authority, Hong Kong, for seven years. With over 25 years of clinical experience as a clinical psychologist, she developed deep expertise in healing and nurturing those with childhood adversities and traumas to achieve psychological well-being.  Dr. Cindy is richly experienced in treating clients with a broad range of psychiatric illnesses and psychological issues, such as adjustment issues, grief, depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorders, personality disorders and complex trauma.  Being trained in a scientist-practitioner model with her rich clinical experience, Dr. Cindy strives to integrate different evidence-based treatment modalities in her psychotherapy, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion-focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Mindfulness- and Compassion-based Therapies.

Currently, Dr. Cindy practices as a psychotherapist with a more integrative approach.  She also adopts a non-diagnostic approach and at the same time grounds her psychotherapy in evidence-based practices.  This means that Dr. Cindy strives more flexibility in her psychotherapy and not to rely on formal diagnosis.  As a result, she emphasizes on personalizing service needs for her clients.  Under this individualized approach, she also strives to follow the ethical guidelines under her professional memberships.  For those who prefer a formal clinical diagnosis and a more structured psychological treatment, Dr. Cindy will refer out to other suitable counterparts to cater for such needs.  Dr. Cindy does not take clients financing their psychotherapy through insurance.

With a strong commitment in serving the community, Dr. Cindy was a member of the Guardianship Board and Post-release Supervision Board of the HKSAR government. Dr. Cindy aspires to help the general public understand more about psychology through her original articles, books, podcasts and videos.  She hopes that every human being can live with internal contentment and freedom, and strives to help people with adversities and traumas live a fulfilling life by healing and nurturing them for the development of groundedness and resilience.
